Kit: Selling sports-clothing in Britain 1870-1950
This presentation combines the interests of Dil Porter, who has worked on sport and business history, and Jean Williams, who is interested in sporting fashion and textile history. It looks at methodological issues in tracing those who produced, sold and distributed goods and services to those who consumed them as individuals and groups. Even the humble sock or boot can tell us quite a bit about these processes.
