New enzyme based process direction to prevent wool shrinking without substantial tensile strength loss
This paper demonstrated the high level of international collaboration on the research of enzyme modification and their application in the wool process for machine washable wool. The crossing expertises from textile to microbiology were brought into research and development. Successful outcomes demonstrated the new environmentally friendly bioprocess proved at the lab scale for machine washable wool. The breakthrough of traditional harmful chlorination process will have huge impact on environment and energy saving. Their impact in enzyme and textile industries and environment is significant. This also shown the success of international collaboration under EU funded project (PROTEX) coordinated by J. Shen and high quality of academic study.
