    Description
This paper led to a direct negotiation with ESA, to develop a new Global Digital Elevation Model, ACE2, by fusing the SRTM data with altimeter derived heights, to generate a new GDEM for free release to the scientific and commercial community in 2008 via the IAG IDEMS centre. The ACE2 GDEM is already planned for inclusion in the instrument processing chains of Jason-2, Sentinel3 and SMOS (contact Dr J. Benveniste at ESA ESRIN for further information).
