    Abstract
As part of our basic studies we have employed various biophysical techniques for the study of biomembrane structure. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy has been used to probe the structure of membrane associated polypeptides and proteins. Here we discuss the recent development of methods for quantitative analysis of protein secondary structure for both soluble and membrane proteins. With regard to technological studies, we are pursuing research to develop new haemocompatible biomaterials. Results of some our recent studies are presented.
