State, Secrecy and Executive Power: journalists under duress
This chapter explores the nature of the relationship between journalists, news organisations, and the state. It contends that this tripartite connection both enables and constrains the production of journalistic insights. It draws upon the state/corporate theory outlined previously in books like 'Worst-case Scenario' (2011) and references to state systems in chapters such as the one on trans spatial power found in 'Sites of Protest' (2016).
