This was a collaborative project, and I worked closely with Judit Ferencz, the illustrator, to get the final result. Dawn of the Unread was an Arts Council Funded project, led by James Walker. It focused on library closures and on Nottingham's literary heritage. The final comics were extremely interactive with embedded music, articles and games.en
Alma Lucy Reville, was an English assistant director, screenwriter, and editor who put up with Hitchcock’s tantrums and helped his films become classics. Born in St. Ann’s, Nottingham a plaque was placed on the library near her birthplace and immediately stolen! In this story a disused library is turned into an illegal rave and features Kerrie-Ann Hill, the main protagonist of Nicola Monaghan’s debut novel The Killing Jar. Here she meets Alma after ‘dropping a pill’ and the two share their experiences of their respective partners. Judit Ferencz uses a minimal approach that brings together illustration and design into a cohesive whole where colour and typography are integral aspects of her storytelling.en
