Virtual engineering: an integrated approach to agile manufacturing machinery design and control
Reports aspects of the €4.1M EU Framework funded VIR-ENG collaborative research project (Contract Number: EP25444) authored and led by DMU. Invited contribution for 10th Anniversary Special Issue of the journal. Collaborators included Volvo (Car & Truck), Volvo Automation/Euromaint, Honeywell Controls and Delfoi. The methods were adopted and integrated by Volvo Automation (firstname.lastname@example.org Research/ICT manager) and resulted in new tools emerging from Delmia/Delfoi for programming PLC systems. A spin out company VIRENTA was formed (Gothia Science Park, Sweden, email@example.com).
