dc.description Following innovative research into kinship care by the author, two books, and three conference presentations, including key-notes, this article has helped to put kinship care towards the top of the child welfare agenda, both nationally and elsewhere in Europe. On the basis of the research and analysis that informed this one article, the author has been invited to speak at further national, international research and training events. This work has also led to involvement with the Office of the Children’s Commissioner and key stakeholders lobbying the DfeS for positive changes following Care Matters (2006) for children who are ‘looked after’. en
